Our Bridge Design Engineer career path is your opportunity to work on exciting and engaging large-scale infrastructure transportation projects. You’ll use your experience to provide technical expertise and lead a team in completing bridge and transportation structure design and construction projects from conceptual and preliminary design to final design and construction. You’ll works as a competent engineer in all aspects of structural design for prestressed concrete and steel girder bridges, as well as other transportation structures including retaining walls and drainage structures; includes development of calculations, drawings, specifications, cost estimates and reports. For small to medium sized projects, you’ll serve as lead bridge engineer; lead the bridge team in all aspects of bridge design, from type, size and location studies to final design and construction support services. For large, complex bridge projects including design-build projects, serve as project engineer working beneath a lead bridge engineer. Your experience will also lend well to training, directing and mentoring junior less experienced engineers and CAD staff. You’ll also coordinate design activities and meetings between Jacobs staff and subcontractors and assist in business development activities and proposal efforts

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • BSCE

  • PE

  • 5 years bridge design experience with a background in steel girder bridges, prestressed concrete bridges, retaining structures and drainage structures

  • Strong knowledge of LRFD design code. Proficiency in LARSA, Leap Bridge Concrete, or Bridge Link software or similar analysis and design software

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently

  • Basic understanding of MicroStation inroads and Open roads platform

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

  • Design-Build project experience

  • Strong focus on client service
