Cabela's Co Manager in Missoula, Montana

POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for day to day management of store with partnership from Market General Manager to include merchandising and store operations, ensuring proper merchandise assortment, merchandise presentation, inventory control, customer service, financial

efficiency, leadership development, outfitter productivity, motivation, morale and other duties as assigned.


  • Supports and provides a legendary customer service experience every time by assisting customers in making buying decisions by: identifying and evaluating customers' needs, making product recommendations based off of this analysis and promoting programs including, but not limited to CLUB Membership, BOSS, VOC and In-Store Pick-up, Endless Aisle, and Outdoor Fund. 10%

  • Directly supervises the Receiving, Customer Service, Maintenance, Operations, Events, and Sales Departments through the Group Sales Managers, including TMBC. 10%

  • Floor general approach – spends time managing by walking sales floor and engaging with team. Be Approachable, Be Available, Be Visible on the salesfloor for our outfitters as well as our customers. 10%

  • Responsible for Firearms compliance in acquisition, safety, sales procedures (4473) and disposition. 5%

  • Assumes responsibility for the entire store to include open and close processes and procedures – including resolving customer concerns 5%

  • Ensures the Departments are staffed with “service” oriented outfitters; participates in interviewing and selection. Carries out Supervisory responsibilities and partners with Human Resources in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws, including: interviewing, hiring & training, planning, assigning and directing work; measuring and evaluating performance; rewarding and disciplining outfitters; addressing complaints and resolving outfitter and customer problems. 5%

  • Works closely with Market Manager and Base Camp Support Staff to ensure proper merchandise assortment and inventory levels. 5%

  • Responsible to communicate and implement all advertising and marketing initiatives of the Company to include tabs, flyers, signing, pricing, features, imagery, visual presentation, etc. 5%

  • Coordinates training, prepares/approves performance appraisals, recommends merit/promotional increases, prepares/approves weekly work schedules, coaches and motivates outfitters and management team to promote positive customer relations and a productive team-oriented work environment. 5%

  • Maintains all planograms and visual directives set by Merchandising. 5%

  • Meets or exceeds all financial plans as set by the Company. 5%

  • Controls Company assets and financial efficiency by auditing reports, general ledger, electronic journals, physical inventory and procedures to ensure system integrity; monitors and controls cash management; controls store operating & loss account. 5%

  • Executes and communicates all Operating procedures in the Store. 5%

  • Develops & executes all Sales / Payroll plans and controlling operational expense. 5%

  • Provides financial results / performance to the Market General Manager through several reports. 5%

  • Maintains a clean, organized, and safe environment and facility for all outfitters and guests. 5%

  • Analyze customer and business analytics to drive customer service and operating metric goals. 5%



Minimum of 5+ years in big box, high volume management, with responsibility for one or more Sales Departments and Receiving or Front-End experience.


  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions and percentages. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of other financial, legal and technical information.

  • Ability to read and analyze certain reports. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, outfitters, customers and the general public. Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.

  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.

  • Hands-On Leadership style – engaged with people as well as the product for optimum presentation and sales.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, outfitters, customers and with the Base Camp support staff.

  • Ability to communicate with audiences at all levels.

  • Ability to measure results -vs- expectations and goals and communicate/share information with team members to create a sense of “ownership” and a well-informed team.

  • Demonstrated use and understanding of servant leadership and team concept of management.

  • Demonstrated ability and experience to walk sales floor for presentation, in stock and seasonal appropriateness.

  • Ability to identify opportunities within a store for process execution efficiency, receiving, freight flow and inventory control.

  • Willingness to ask for help and guidance when needed.

  • Self-motivator driven to succeed, driven to win.


Physical Requirements

To accomplish the essential functions of this job, Incumbent will be required to:

  • Occasionally work in hazardous conditions

  • Light work that includes constantly lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds, occasionally move and lift objects up to 100 pounds or more (utilizing a team lift as needed)
