We are looking to add new talent to our growing team! We are currently seeking an experienced Engineering Technician/CAD Designer to provide high-quality engineering support, CAD drafting and design support to our Rocky Mountain Region. This person will help provide support to Engineers, Project Managers, and Client Leaders for a range of site investigation, design (civil, geotechnical, environmental remediation), permitting and construction projects. The successful candidate shall be a self-motivated problem solver with high attention to detail and must be capable of working with minimal direction to solve problems and prepare technically accurate design documents as independently as possible, while adhering to project scopes and budgets. This is a full-time position based locally near Missoula or Helena, MT. Remote work could be considered within Montana or Idaho.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will:

  • Perform field engineering roles for a variety of projects.
  • Support field investigation and characterization programs.
  • Provide engineering support to construction implementation.
  • Support client meetings, presentations and work scope development.
  • Provide high-quality CAD drafting and design support for civil/site/remediation drafting needs on projects and proposals, while successfully juggling multiple deadline-driven tasks.
  • Prepare site plans and details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Prepare Civil grading, drainage, utility, and erosion control plans.
  • Prepare geologic cross-sections and profiles, design detailing, groundwater and chemical contour maps, and geological cross-sections.
  • Work within quality/budget/schedule expectations and scope-specific assignments.
  • Produce concise, clear, and compelling output with a keen eye for aesthetics and the ability to view the files in 2D and 3D environments.
  • Balance a high level of consistency with adherence to established company standards and best practices.
  • Collaborate with engineers, scientists, GIS professionals, and other CAD specialists to complete tasks based on project specifications and internal requirements.
  • Independently prioritize work to meet various project requests and deadlines.
  • Coordinate directly with CAD Manager to ensure that company CAD standards and quality are met.
  • Must have a strong passion and proficiency for continued learning of efficient workflows in the software and utilizing the full functioning of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's degree in design or drafting is desired. Other CAD-specific technical training will be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience preparing engineering drawings and site investigation figures for environmental, site/civil, transportation and earthwork and site/civil aspects of remedial construction projects.
  • Computer Skills - Strong computer proficiency with AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil3D.
  • Additional expertise and proficiency with the Civil 3D, ArcGIS, Bentley MicroStation, Revit, Bluebeam, and other CAD related applications is a plus.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD/ArcGIS data interoperability.
