Legal Assistant - Public Finance

We are seeking aLegal Assistantin our Public Finance department for our Missoula office. As a valued team member, you are a critical part of Dorsey’s client service team, working collaboratively with lawyers and clients on an array of substantive client matters. In this role, you will:

  • Revise electronic documents; type neatly and accurately; proofread material to ensure high quality product while practicing effective verbal and written communication.

  • File information promptly and accurately; retrieve promptly.

  • Anticipate potential problems in meeting deadlines and take appropriate action.

  • Locate internal information and files as directed.

  • Open new matters as directed.

  • Prepare transcripts from closing of projects.

  • Enter attorney time daily as directed.

  • Process receipts for reimbursement as directed.

  • Greet clients and answer phone calls.

  • Monitor inventory and order office and kitchen supplies.

  • Track inventory of computer equipment and act as office liaison with technology team.

  • Maintain copy and postage machine, log daily postal mail and deliveries using firm standard processes. Deliver mail to post office as needed.

  • Maintain physical records in the office and coordinate storage of files located off-site.

  • Set up conference rooms for meetings and assist with kitchen maintenance.

  • Provide coverage for additional assignments when necessary.

  • Assist with special projects and cooperate with others in performing any duty essential to the achievement of efficient operations.

  • May be requested to perform other duties not mentioned above.

What we’re looking for:

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

  • At least 4 years of legal assistant experience.

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel.

  • Strong customer services focus and skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks at one time and perform well in stressful situations.

  • Ability to use good judgment in solving problems and resolving conflict.

  • Flexibility with schedule (overtime may be required).

  • Excellent attendance.

  • Experience with Microsoft Word.

Preferred:

  • Experience with timekeeping and document management software.
