Bar / Kitchen Manager

Job Description

Summary: This position is accountable for the following areas: Customer service at your location. Supervisory decisions consistent with Casino Operations standards, policies, and procedures. Assisting in planning, leadership, developing, organizing, and follow-up in these areas: controllable expenses, sales increases, inside gross margin, proper security and control of corporate funds, shortage controls, ordering kitchen food and supplies, promotion programs, and monitoring competitors. Setting the proper example for co-workers in terms of professionalism, attitude, and teamwork in the areas of customer service Bar and Kitchen Operations. Working around kitchen equipment, cooking and preparing food. Overall maintenance and cleanliness of location. Responsible for hiring of employees, discipline when necessary, succession planning for promoting employees and controlling unnecessary turnover.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

MUST BE SERVSAFE CERTIFIED

  1. Must be able to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times when dealing with Customers, Employees, Vendors, District Managers, Corporate Employees or Operations staff.

  2. Must be able to know and/or perform duties of a Bartender, Kitchen supervisor Bookkeeper, and Assistant Manager.

  3. Grow location revenue by having an effectively managed location, kitchen staffed including, hiring and training the best employees available, delivering exceptional service, maintaining proper staffing, keeping property clean and safe, evaluating competition, knowing your customer base, coordinate events and pull tabs, being aware of your community's economy.

  4. Supervise, hire, train, orient, develop succession plan of bartenders, assistant mangers, and managers in training.

  5. Redirect employees; may include career guidance, recognition, retrain, and discipline and/or recommend termination. Develop and support employees in all area of business, showing leadership and setting the example of company standards by being fair and consistent in all areas of employment to include requests time off, conduct logs, attendance logs, posting schedules to the needs of the business, and able to adapt to situations on short notice.

  6. Effectively prioritizing, organizing, delegating, and following up on all tasks to be accomplished.

  7. Submit paperwork to corporate office, accident reports, incident reports, snow removal logs, meeting agendas, time cards, upload sheets, etc.

  8. Enforce all company policies and procedures.

  9. Ability to work 40 hours a week.

  10. Responsible for holding monthly team meeting.

  11. Must have a way to be able to be contacted. (Phone, message phone, cell phone, pager Beeper, etc.)

  12. Merchandising; to include completing inventories, maintaining inventory costs, transferring, stocking, and rotating kitchen and bar items, ensuring food items are properly dated

  13. Ensure a safe environment for employees and customers.

  14. Provide customer service; assure customers are tended to in a positive and efficient manner. This may include waiting on customers, addressing customer complaints in a professional manner, assisting with special requests, mediating and finding sound solutions to other issues.

  15. Obtain (from cooler) and open cans and bottles of beer, pop, and wine.

  16. Conduct maintenance in the kitchen area, to include basic preventative maintenance and repairs of kitchen equipment.

  17. Promote kitchen safety

  18. Maintain highest quality standards in food preparation. Prepare food and cook heated items as required. Food must maintained at proper temperature.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. .

    LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

    ARITHMETICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

    REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

  • Valid Driver’s License with acceptable driving record

  • Alcohol sales/service certification approved by the state of Montana

  • SERVSAFE Certified

    OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Ability to meet the location's performance goals including but not limited, labor, turnover, overtime, cash control, cost control, drop increases/sales/revenue growth, employee development of trainees

  • Ability to maintain your location's interior and exterior at or above acceptable operational standards.

  • Ability to maintain the highest level of customer service at all businesses in your location.

  • Ability to provide planning, give clear directions, training, leadership, organization, and insure follow-up and control in all areas of the location.

  • Ability to ensure and promote a safe work environment at all times on company property
