TheMontanaFish,Wildlife&Parks(MFWP)RegionalHeadquartersofficesprovideinformationandservices to the hunting, fishing and recreating publics within the region. The regional headquarters supports and coordinates all activities of Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks in the region.It develops and implements, local fish, wildlife, parks, law enforcement, and information programs with direction and support from Helenaheadquarters. The Front Desk unit, under the direction of the regional office manager, provides customer service to the sportsmen/women of the state of Montana and technical and administrative support to all programs at the MFWP Regional Headquarters. The regional administrative support staff is the public’s primary and initial contactpresentingaprofessionalandknowledgeableimageforFWP.Thefrontinformationdeskservesasa primary FWP license agent and is responsible for accurately issuing a variety of hunting, fishing, and miscellaneouslicenses,permits,anddecalsandcorrectserrorsonlicensessoldbyexternallicenseproviders. JobDuties: This position provides customer service, technical, and administrative support to all the fish, wildlife, stateparks,lawenforcementandinformationandeducationprograms.Providescustomerserviceduties associated with providing public information and services on a multitude of topics and activities that primarily cover hunting, fishing, trapping, and recreational opportunities in Montana.Collects andhandles money associated with license sales entering accurately into a cash register. Must be detailed orientedto track quotas for black bear, mountain lion, bighorn sheep, and furbearing seasons. In addition, maintains and tracks data within a computer tracking system. Assists the block management program out of this local regional office(Region2)issuingpermissionslipsbeginninglateAugustthroughthefall.Collectsandaccuratelycounts coupons and permissions slips turned in from landowners after the hunting season is completed that can take up to three months of repetitive work. That data is then accurately input into Excel spreadsheets. This position requires advanced Excel, and O365 skills. _Physical and Environmental Demands:_ The predominant duties assigned to the incumbent are performed in an office setting. The incumbentmust be able to work independently, efficiently and exercise good judgment in an office setting with numerous interruptions. They are solely in charge of the front office, handling several multi-level functions simultaneously. Standing for long periods of time at the front counter issuing licenses during “peak” seasons. Sitting for long periods of time in a confined position, working on various computer assignments with repetitive hand movements and artificial lighting. Incumbent must be able lift 40 pound boxes. Angry, dissatisfied, rude and sometimes intoxicated callers and “walk-ins” often vent their frustrations on the support staff. _Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: _ · Excellent public relations skills, including establishing positive work relationships with public and coworkers. · Ability to handle difficult customers and situations. · The ability to communicate effectively with external and internal customers in person, in writing and on the phone. · The ability to work independently and provide the public with the correct information and licenses. · Thorough working knowledge of office principles and practices. · Considerable knowledge of business English, including grammar, spelling, punctuation and sentence structure. · Skilled in organizing, prioritizing and time management · Ability to operate a computer, printer, fax machine, photocopier, cash register, credit card machine, calculator and multi-line voicemail telephone system. · Knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook, with a heavy emphasis on Excel experience. · Ability to adapt to various proprietary computer applications. · Must possess the ability to understand, interpret and explain policies, procedures and regulations in an easily understandable manner. · Ability to memorize and retain information, i.e. price of licenses, season dates, phone numbers, laws, etc. · Ability to work accurately with frequent interruptions. · Must be dependable and reliable with a strong ability to be flexible/adaptable. · Must be tactful, courteous and professional. · General accounting or bookkeeping experience preferred. _Minimum Qualifications (Education and Experience):_ The knowledge, skills, and abilities of this position are normally attained throughcombination of education and experience equivalent a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 1 year of job-related work experience.
