Providence Health & Services Home Health and Hospice Clinical Systems Specialist in Montana


Providence is calling a Home Health and Hospice Clinical Systems Specialist - Home Services Home Intake (1.0 FTE, Days) to Providence Office Park Portland in Portland, OR.

This is mostly a virtual position and the successful applicant can reside in any of the states that Providence is located (AK, MT, WA, OR, CA, NM, TX).

We are seeking a Home Health and Hospice Clinical Systems Specialist - Home Services Home Intake who will serve as a resource in promoting the understanding, integration, and application of information technology in Home Health and Hospice settings. This position acts as a liaison between clinical care and information technology, supporting all Home Health and Hospice caregivers in the implementation, ongoing use, and optimization of clinical technologies.

The Specialist provides direct end-user support for clinical information systems that assist Home Health and Hospice caregivers in their clinical practice and clinical decision-making, including delivering instructor-led training to caregivers of all clinical disciplines in Home Health and Hospice, identifying caregivers' technical difficulties, defining appropriate solutions for EHR-related issues, and providing both hardware and software computer support to end-users. The Specialist participates in workgroups, committees, and workflow sessions as requested to assist with optimizing the use of clinical information systems used by Home Health and Hospice.

In this position you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Provide instructor-led training for Home Health and Hospice staff on electronic health record (EHR) functionality and workflows, which support the successful adoption of clinical information systems into the patient care process

  • Coach and provides one-on-one “at the elbow” support for members of the Home Health and Hospice clinical team in gaining and maintaining competency in use of clinical technology

  • Ensure that workflow and training knowledge delivered is consistent with, and accurately reflects, informatics standards and Home Health and Hospice specified workflows

  • Recommend modifications to the content and delivery of training curriculum for Home Health and Hospice

  • Assist with troubleshooting and requests from Home Health and Hospice staff and supervisors regarding equipment, devices, electronic medical record, and other systems

  • Respond and assist customers immediately upon request and follows up on previous interactions to ensure issue resolution or escalation

  • Communicate Home Health and Hospice customer-requested system improvements and communicates prioritized requests to appropriate governance

  • Participate in the planning for Home Health and Hospice ministry implementation of clinical information systems installation and upgrades, activities include but are not limited to: assessment, analysis and redesign of clinical workflows, reporting, training, engagement and change processes

  • Travel among regional Home Health and Hospice facilities and occasional travel among PSJH Home Health and Hospice entities is expected

  • Possibly be required to work on-call, after hours and variable shifts and weekends to meet client needs

  • Participate in Home Health and Hospice local and multi-regional workgroups, committees, and workflow sessions as requested to assist with optimizing the use of clinical information systems

  • Act as a liaison with IS partners and vendors to advocate for optimal EHR functionality


Required qualifications for this position includes:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Preferred field: Education, Adult Learning, Informatics, Computer Science, Business, or Clinical Discipline

  • Valid driver's license

  • Driving record consistent with GOP Safe Driving Policy 330 Incident Point Matrix at time of hire

  • Two (2) years of experience training one-on-one or in small groups

  • Experience training on software applications used in a business or healthcare environment

  • Experience using clinical information systems

  • Customer service experience

Preferred qualifications for this position includes:

  • Experience in Home Health or Hospice setting

  • Experience with supporting clinician use of an EMR system

  • Experience in creating, designing, and writing training manuals
