SCHOOL DISTRICT #30Job DescriptionJob Title: TRANSPORTATION ASSISTANT/RELIEF ROUTE DRIVERReports To: Transportation/Maintenance SupervisorEvaluated By: Transportation/Maintenance SupervisorJOB GOAL: To assist in the maintenance of all school district buses, vehicles and equipment in a safe mechanical and operational condition; meet and/or exceed State Police vehicle inspections, and to provide uninterrupted services to the schools and programs within the school district.ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.High School Diploma or equivalent 21 years of age or olderAbility to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, parents, and staffAbility to understand and follow oral and written instructions with limited supervisionAbility to maintain confidentialityFamiliarity with handling of and disposal of hazardous materialsAbility to complete reports as required by the administrationAbility to operate light truck, construction equipment, and tractorPerform physical requirements which may include:Moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs. Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and bendingExposure to conditions where heating, cooling, and ventilation may be inadequate at timesMay require exposure to chemicals and the possibility of electrical shockKnowledge of security systems, (i.e. electronic and key locks)Ability to demonstrate standards of moral character and behavior to serve as an effective role model for studentsMust have and maintain all qualifications as a Montana School Bus Driver; CDL B, with air brakes and the P, S endorsementsGood computer skillsHave good written/oral skillsSuch alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.Assist in the maintenance of all school buses, and vehicles (cars, vans, pickups, ect.)Assist in the inspection and maintenance of all buses to pass the yearly State Policy inspectionUse power tools necessary to perform the duties as assignedParticipate in in-service programs as assignedMaintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with students and staff informationAct as a friendly ambassador for Ronan School District No. 30Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or SuperintendentMaintains satisfactory attendance, as defined in District policyAble to diagnose and repair vehicles in all areas related to electrical, heating, suspension and steering, brakes, drive trains and all other areas pertinent to the safe operation of district vehicles and equipment; both regular and dieselAssist in the responsibility of the ordering of parts, supplies, and materials and maintain inventory control over the sameAssist in the responsibility of submitting a maintenance/parts/equipment budget and working within the budgetAssist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of a preventative maintenance program on all vehicles/equipmentMaintain and monitor shop safety at all timesOpen and/or closes the building/gates as required or necessaryKeeps the bus lot and the employee lot free of snow in the winterAssists in establishing vehicle maintenance prioritiesAssists in maintaining all necessary records (both paper and computer) as directed or necessaryAssists in the maintenance of the bus fleet/other vehicles, to meet and/or exceed all requirements related to district policies/procedures and local, State and Federal laws and regulationsMaintain all certifications/licenses and attend all training as required or necessaryCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED: Possess and maintain a valid First Aid/CPR cardMontana Department of Justice criminal background checkPossess a valid Montana Commercial Driver's License Bloodborne Pathogen Training/Hepatitis B Shot Series Training (if required)DOT Medical ExamAcceptable Driving History ReportPHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and hours to be arranged, with salary according to current schedule.EVALUATION: Following the probationary period, performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.
