MATERIALS BIO INC. QUAD 5 General Ranch Hand in RYEGATE, Montana

Temporary full time position from 4/1/2024 to 1/28/2025 In the Spring of the year, all of our combined livestock and ranch activities accelerate, and the increased workload remains steady throughout the entire livestock production and growing season, up to and through the winter range feeding months. It is during this very busy season that we need additional labor. Worker must have 3 months experience. Must be able to ride and handle horses in a manner that ensures the safety of the worker, co-workers and livestock. Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of alfalfa, sanfoin, barley and livestock . In April, sheep will go out to pasture and will need supervision from alkali and water hazards. The General Farm Ranch worker will also be responsible for predation control and death loss, pasture rotation and mineral supply, general doctoring, fence repair and maintenance. Care and pen cleaning for new lambs. Weaned lambs will be moved to separate groups. Some animals may need specialized doctoring/feeding as needed. Yearling sheep will be sorted and shipped in October and November. Worker will assist with cattle breeding program. Vaccinated cows and calves will be put out to pasture. Once calves are old enough, they will be weaned and separated to prepare for sale/shipping in October and November. Weaned calves must be carefully observed for bloat and/or sickness. Worker will assist with irrigation: Maintenance and operation oversight of four pivot lines, ensuring pivots are not stuck, keep water running, refilling tracks so machines do not get stuck. This process will happen a total of three complete start up and shutdowns throughout the irrigation season. Irrigation will be winterized at the end of the season. Worker will assist with Haying: equipment will be serviced and maintained throughout the season, Hay will be cut, raked, baled, removed from field and stacked as quickly as possible so that irrigation can be restarted for next cutting. Worker will help winterize irrigation and assist with end of season repairs. Worker will assist with winter range feeding until livestock are moved into feedlots which marks the end of the season.
