CSKT Salish Language Apprentice in SAINT IGNATIUS, Montana
This position provides the time and support necessary for Salish Language Apprentice to become a speaker of the Salish language. The Language Apprentice will go through the curriculum series, developing the proficiency needed to be a future Salish language teacher. This intensive instruction includes a tightly designed sequence of a total of 6 books. The first year provides a one-year contract which consists of completion of 4 books with the opportunity for an additional one-year contract consisting of 2 final books to continue into the Language program completing the curriculum series. (2nd year contract is based on performance evaluation, test scores, attendance and participation of first year).
MINIMUM RECRUITING QUALIFICATIONS AS REFLECTED ON TRIBAL EMPLOYMENT APPLICATION: High School Diploma or Equivalent. Commitment to successfully complete the Language Adult Language Program. Long-term commitment to provide Language instruction.
