Charge Nurse (RN) - Nights/Full & Part-time/Per Diem
Description
The primary purpose of the charge nurse job position is to provide direct nursing care to intermediate swing bed (ISW) residents, inpatients, emergency patients, and outpatient services.
Administrative Functions
1 Direct the day-to-day functions of the nursing floor in accordance with current rules, regulations and guidelines that govern long-term care facilities and Critical Access Hospitals.
2 Ensure that all nursing personnel assigned to you comply with the written policies and procedures established by this facility.
3. Ensure that all nursing service personnel comply with the procedures set forth in the Nursing Service Procedures Manual and are in compliance with their job descriptions.
4. Participate in facility surveys/inspections made by authorized government agencies as may be requested.
5. Assist new hires with orientation to patients, care plans, policies and procedures and duties related to their job descriptions. Attend and participate in continuing education programs designed to promote evidence-based practice and maintain your license.
6. Ensure staff are following HIPAA and privacy regulations, Abuse policy, resident rights and infection control/safety policies and procedures.
7. Charting and Documentation will be done in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects care provided to patients, as well as the patients' response to the care.
8. Chart all reports of accidents and incidents involving patients by following established procedures including reports submitted through RL6 for intermediate swing patients.
9. Provide a full and detailed report to the oncoming nursing staff.
10. Frequently review and give input to patients' plan of care and ensure that assigned staff are following such plan.
11. Notify the patients' attending provider and next-of-kin when the patient has a change in condition.
Drug Administrative Functions
1. Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the provider.
2. Follow the five rights of medication administration including right patient, right drug, right dose, right time and right route.
3. Ensure that narcotic records are accurate for your shift.
4. Notify the Director of Nursing of all drug and narcotic discrepancies noted on your shift.
5. Reorder medications as needed.
6. Notify the attending provider of automatic stop orders prior to the last dosage being administered.
7. Dispose of drugs and narcotics as required and in accordance with established procedures.
Personnel Functions
1. Provide leadership to nursing personnel assigned to your unit/shift.
2. Make daily rounds of your shift to ensure that nursing service personnel are performing their work assignments in accordance with acceptable nursing standards. Report problems to the Director of Nursing.
3. Ensure that department personnel, patients and visitors always follow the department's established policies and procedures.
Qualifications - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Provider CPR required, and current Montana state license as a registered nurse required, may work under temporary Montana state license as a registered nurse as defined in the Montana Board of Nursing rules and regulations. Must provide proof of/or obtain (within 6 months of hire) certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC).
Incentives - $32.28 per hour to start.
