CITY OF SHELBY LABORER - Temporary Summer Job in SHELBY, Montana

City of Shelby - Looking for Temporary Summer Laborers... DUTIES: Under supervision, this job position performs a wide variety of unskilled duties in the maintenance and construction of the city's parks, streets, water, wastewater and sanitation services. Performs a variety of tasks requiring limited skill in the use of hand tools and riding mowers used in the maintenance of city facilities, and performs unskilled labor tasks, such as loading and unloading trucks with heavy material; shoveling asphalt, cinders, rocks, sand and gravel; spreading and raking asphalt; performing grounds maintenance work, such as mowing, raking, spraying, trimming and cutting down plants and trees; collecting and removing debris; doing general landscaping work; and performing other related duties as assigned. Courtesy must always be shown to the Public, Supervisors and Fellow Employees. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge) Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State of Montana; have a working knowledge of the work methods, materials and equipment used in the course of work. (Abilities) Must be able to read, write and follow instructions; perform heavy manual labor work; work outside in varying weather conditions; and establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contracted during the course of work. (Education) The above knowledge and abilities are typically acquired through an education equivalent to graduation from high school. (Experience) One year of experience involving manual skill. The City may accept what it deems an appropriate combination of education and experience. GENERAL WORKING CONDITIONS: The position requires good eyesight and manual dexterity, periods of sitting while driving and at a desk, some walking and running, lifting objects which usually weigh not more than 50 pounds, a significant amount of work outdoors in temperature extremes, and exposure to dust, dirt, noise and regular cleaning materials, such as floor, window and toilet cleaners.
