Ruby Valley Medical Center Ambulance Driver - As Needed in Sheridan, Montana

SummaryThe mission and purpose of our Ambulance Driver is to provide safe operation of the ambulance and assist with the movement of the patient and/or equipment. The Ambulance Driver is used by the Ambulance Service on an on-call basis and is not on the EMS schedule. Drivers are for transfer purposes only unless otherwise designated by the Paramedic on duty. Initiating patient care is not within the scope of a driver.Essential Job Accountabilities- Operate vehicles and equipment to facilitate the care of a patient in a safe and efficient manner.- Utilize maps from various resources including IamResponding to locate hospitals, medical facilities, and response scene addresses or locations.- Assist Paramedic / Emergency Care Provider (ECP) with completing Trip Time and Odometer Sheet on a daily basis fully recording each call.- Ensure ambulance is maintained and is in good working order.- Become familiar with basic radio etiquette to communicate with dispatch, other response agencies and hospitals. Communicate with Madison County Dispatch when ambulance leaves the station, arrives at pick up location, when arriving at destination, and when arriving back at the ambulance station to appropriately track call times.- Assist with completing truck checklist for vehicle as requested by the on duty ECP or Paramedic.- Report mechanical problems to on duty ECP or Paramedic.- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.- Guard patient privacy and comply with HIPAA regulations.- Review Ruby Valley Medical Center Employee Handbook and Ruby Valley EMS Guidelines.Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Read maps, drive vehicles and accurately discern street signs, address numbers, GPS locations and other methods to identify locations.- Operate ambulance stretcher or stretcher power cot system and radio.- Manage disposable supplies, take care of durable equipment, and use written time sheet.- Perform other duties as assigned.Education/Licensing/Certification- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)- Optional Basic Life Support CPR certification- Successful completion of online CEVO or EVOC Driver Training program.- Must obtain and maintain applicable license for the area of operation.Physical RequirementsPlease see format job description at https://www.rvmc.org/jobopenings/Ambulance-Driver for a complete list of physical job requirements.Lifting of patient onto stretcher and into ambulance; carrying of patients and equipment; climbing stairs or steps; verbally communicating with patients, co-workers, medical personnel and the public either directly or indirectly via electronic communication equipment; driving the ambulance in emergency and non-emergency situations both short and long distances.
