RICHLAND COUNTY PUBLIC WORKS Laborer/Equipment Mechanic in SIDNEY, Montana

Full time Laborer/Equipment Mechanic position available. This position requires a High School diploma (or its equivalent) with a minimum of five years' experience repairing and maintaining heavy equipment preferred; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job. Experience operating heavy equipment preferred. Class A, Type-1 CDL driver's license with air brake endorsement, or attainable within 60 days. WORK UNIT OVERVIEW: The Public Works Department manages and preserves the County road infrastructure and provides a safe and efficient transportation system that supports economic and community vitality. SUMMARY OF WORK: Performs mechanics duties on specialized equipment, including the ability to diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul mobile mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment, such as road graders, trucks, trailers, bulldozers, tractors, large mowers, compactors, pickups, buses and conveyors, which are used on large scale public works projects and other duties as directed by the Road Foreman. Throughout the course of employment, priorities and needs of the Public Works Department change and evolve; therefore, the employee may be moved laterally between crews at any time at the discretion of the Road Foreman or the Public Works Director.
