PRIMARY FUNCTION: Reporting to the CEO, the kitchen employee helps organization food programs. They are responsible for ensuring that members are served healthy, appetizing snacks and meals prepared in a safe and sanitary environment. Emphasis is placed on locally grown food products and agricultural education programs. KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities): Meal Planning and Preparation: *Develops menu plans for the Club and Summer Food Program based on nutritional adequacy, budgetary constraints, and federal standards and customer acceptance. *Provides information necessary for analysis of menu choices to CEO upon request. Forecasts and orders food and material required for Club programs according to established purchasing methods and procedures. *Monitors compliance with approved food preparation and service procedures, including use of standardized recipes, portion control, presentation and quality of food. *Implements the Harvest of the Month program, emphasizing locally grown produce. *Coordinates with local growers and suppliers to source locally-grown products. Participates in taste testing and evaluation of new products, recipes and methods of preparation. *Prepares daily snack for all members. *Prepares breakfast and lunches for members on full-day Club days (Fridays during school year; Monday-Friday during the summer program) *Oversees the Richland County Summer Food Program sites. *Attends professional development events when possible to gain additional training, opportunities and identify new products. Food Safety and Sanitation: *Implements cleaning schedule for production areas and monitors daily sanitation inspection. *Demonstrates established standards, methods and procedures to employees for food safety at the Club in accordance with USDA, Federal and State regulations, Health Department standards and Food Services Department standards and procedures.
