WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The American Red Cross International Services Department seeks to prevent and alleviate human suffering around the world by responding to disasters, building safer, more resilient communities, and educating future humanitarians. The American Red Cross continues to deepen and expand its international programming while also working to strengthen the global Red Cross Red Crescent Network in order to deliver critical assistance to some of the most vulnerable communities in the world.
The Information Management team is looking for a full time Information Management Lead to support our data initiatives. The Information Management Lead will foster a data culture, assist in making data more accessible, and support the integration of data with our preparedness, response, and recovery programs. The position will be responsible for supporting data analysis and visualization projects, as well as leading on learning and development for information management technical competencies, to prepare individuals and organizations to responsibly and effectively used data for improved decision-making. This position is 100% remote.
WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE GOOD
Create visualizations and establish workflows for analyzing a variety of primary and secondary datasets.
Identify and leverage opportunities to scale up the use of existing tools and practices.
Identify opportunities to engage volunteers in workflows or technological solutions for improved and efficient data collection, management and analysis, and visualization.
Travel to project sites to train volunteers and project members on data topics and support country teams and National Society partners to develop data use strategies.
Build use-cases and user-friendly documentation for integrating open-source or data management projects.
Advise on partner data platforms projects to improve data use and information flows for national societies in response operations.
Provide extensive technical support to data management projects in response to recovery environments. Identify, design, and implement data collection, management, and reporting systems. Conduct research on existing learning materials towards the identified information management technical competencies to provide gap analyses and support prioritization of content development.
Document and share best practices, job aids, and tutorials on topics along the information management life cycle.
Support development of training pathways and materials for deployable roster members in information management in response.
Deploy to disaster responses on limited notice, for up to one month, as an information management delegate at least once a year.
Other duties as assigned.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related field (information systems, computer science, GIS, IT).
Master’s in international studies, business management, public administration or relevant field preferred
4 years of relevant working experience in disaster response and/or the design, implementation, and monitoring of humanitarian assistance programs.
4 years of relevant working experience translating requests to the appropriate information service or product and tailoring to appropriate audiences.
Demonstrated operational experience and understanding of information management and applications across various sectors such as Cash and Voucher Assistance, Community Engagement and Accountability, and general decision-making. Knowledge in beneficiary management systems and tools in response operations is helpful.
Strong understanding of data collection, management and analysis, and experience with monitoring and evaluation tools and principles.
Ability to tackle problems under a variety of circumstances and adapt to dynamic situations, especially in high-stress and fast changing environments.
Able to support organizations in identifying technical requirements and establishing data and information flows for improved decision-making.
Experience conducting research to locate and obtain existing, relevant data.
Proven ability to work as an active team member but independently, with limited guidance.
Demonstrated experience in high level of cultural competency and respect for diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Experience planning and delivering technical trainings to a wide variety of audiences with varying skill levels.
Experience with UX/UI (preferred.)
Ability to objectively identify use cases for open data and open-source tools (preferred).
Experience with the Red Cross network and international humanitarian work (preferred).
Skills and Abilities:
Fluency in spoken and written English.
High proficiency with Excel and/or relational databases. Experience with the use of SQL or other relational database query language.
Experience with information design and strong preference for skills in Power BI (or other web analysis and visualization tool), Adobe Creative Suite, or other design tools for static and interactive data and information visualizations.
Ability to use primary and secondary datasets to develop information products. Excellent analytical skills, including the ability to synthesize, process and prioritize large amounts of information quickly.
Excellent computer skills with MS Office software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Comfort engaging with a variety of communication and project management platforms (e.g., Zoom, Slack, GitHub, Trello MSTeams, among others).
Proficiency with geospatial tools and applications such as QGIS and GDAL. (preferred)
Knowledge of survey design, data collection, and management using mobile data collection tools. (preferred)
Experience building project plans, budgets, and setting up monitoring and learning plans for projects. (preferred)
Proficiency in Spanish or French. (preferred)
SALARY INFORMATION
The salary range for this position is: $77,000 -$97,000

Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparison to other employees already in this role.
