JACOBSEN RANCH Farmworker in SUN RIVER, Montana
Temporary full-time position from 2/1/2025 to 11/30/2025. We operate a ranch in Montana. We raise wheat, barley and hay as well as have a cow/calf operation. We need seasonal employees to assist with our crop production season. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, seed drills, manure spreaders, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, irrigate soil, using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps, install, maintain and repair pivot irrigation systems, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, complete maintenance and repairs on irrigation equipment, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. We also need employees to assist with our calving operation which runs from February until May. While cattle are confined for calving they need daily care and feeding. Job duties will include clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences, move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts, patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles, provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment, care for animals, examine animals to detect illness, injury or other problems, operate farming equipment, transport animals, crops, or equipment, treat animal injuries or illnesses.
