PRAIRIE COUNTY Assistant Clerk in TERRY, Montana

PRAIRIE COUNTY ASSISTANT CLERK AND RECORDER / CLERK OF COURT/ELECTION ADMINISTRATOR JOB DESCRIPTION Employment Category: Full time Permanent Employee Wage: $16.00 to $17.00 an hour based on experience. Hours: 2080 hours per year Normal business hours: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. During elections, evenings, and weekend hours Accountable to: Prairie County Clerk and Recorder / Clerk of Court Benefits: *Public Employee's Retirement (7.9% employee / 9.07% employer) *Vacation Leave (accrue immediately, can use after 6 continuous months) *Sick Leave (accrue immediately, can use after 3 continuous months) *Paid State Holidays * County insurance (after 3 months) based upon hours worked. Job Duties and Requirements in assisting Clerk and Deputy Clerk Perform clerical and accounting duties in the processing of County Treasurers monthly receipts and disbursements. Clerk of County Records Recorder of land exchanges, mortgages, satisfactions, etc. County Budget preparation and submittal to Local Government Services Road Secretary for snow removal and mowing Computer knowledge Maintaining accounts payable Process County Payroll Election administration and registration of voters Maintain County cemetery records Secretary of Records for various County boards Maintain land ownership records (includes maps, plat books, cards, etc.) Assistance of customers over the phone Adheres to customer service policies Assume responsibility of office in absence of Clerk and or Deputy Any other duties as required by the Clerk and Recorder Job Duties and Requirements for assisting Clerk of Court for which to assist: Maintain Court records Jury Maintenance Court Proceedings and Documentation Any other duties as required by the Clerk of Court Addition Requirements Education and Experience: Must be 18 years of age Must be a high school graduate or equivalent A basic knowledge of government accounting is helpful but not required. You must also have basic skills in the use of computers, printers, ten-key, fax machines, telephones, and other modern office practices. This employee should have the ability to: Assume responsibility in the absence of the Clerk and Deputy Work accurately and in a timely manner. Observes work hours and demonstrates punctuality. Pay attention to detail, accuracy, and neatness of documents. Solve routine problems without assistance Work well and deal tactfully with the public in stressful situations Handle several tasks at one time. Adhere to standards of confidentiality Complete tasks regardless of interruptions and distractions Communicate orally or in writing effectively Follow verbal and written instructions Work well with or without supervision Prepares, maintains, and submits accurate, neat, and timely records and reports. Perform math calculations quickly and accurately. Work effectively under pressure Show good phone etiquette Performs assigned duties Properly cleans and maintains equipment. Demonstrates sound judgment in making decisions. Provide courteous, accurate and prompt customer service. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other County employees and the public.
