State of Montana Clinical Therapist in Warm Springs, Montana

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity as a ClinicalTherapistat the Montana State Hospital. The Montana State Hospital (MSH) in Warm Springs provides inpatient psychiatric treatment for adults with serious mental illness. MSH is the only public psychiatric hospital in Montana that serves people admitted from communities across the state. Clinical Therapistsprovidepatient treatment to include individual therapy, group therapy, and psycho/educational services on and off treatment units at the Montana State Hospital. Responsibilities include providing clinical evaluation and assessment services; recommending and implementing therapeutic interventions and treatment approaches based on evaluation and assessment findings which may include discharge planning/placement; and assisting with social assessments and treatment plan production and coordination as needed. This position is eligible for a statutory $1.50 an hour base pay increase effective July 1, 2024. Qualifications - External Qualifications for this Career Opportunity * Working knowledge of clinical treatment techniques for adult psychiatric clients including subgroups of patients with psychotic disorders; mood disorders; personality disorders; substance use disorders; patients involved in the criminal justice system; geriatric patients; and other mental health disorders. * Understanding of individual and team approaches to treatment and therapy for emotionally disturbed and/or handicapped adults. * Effective written and verbal communication skills. * Knowledge and application of professional and ethical standards of practice. * Ability to make observations and report/record them accurately. * Ability to effectively utilize knowledge and skills and apply them to practical assessment and treatment modalities for patients. * Ability to maintain attention to detail and thoroughly complete work tasks. * Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information in compliance with HIPAA. · Meet minimum qualifications: o Bachelor’s degree in a clinical treatment discipline that may include nursing, psychology, social work, rehabilitation therapy, or similar background involving the treatment of adult psychiatric patients./Master’s degree is preferred/. o Two years of experience providing therapeutic mental health care to seriously mentally ill individuals. o Licensure as a Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Professional Counselor (LCPC), Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Addictions Counselors (LAC) is required.
