Position Title: Supervisor, Quarry

OPEN UNTIL FILLED

Department/Location: Office of Chief Ops Officer; Montana Limestone Company/ Warren, MT

Position Purpose:

This position is responsible for the management of the quarry for Montana Limestone Company (MLC) in a safe and efficient production of limestone products. The quarry includes equipment necessary for the mining, trucking, and processing of limestone. The quarry access road, along with the maintenance and reclamation equipment, are the responsibility of this position.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures customer requirements are met for quality, quantity, and sizing.

  • Develops and implements policies to achieve production goals.

  • Develops and implements overburden stripping program to ensure that quality control and permit requirements are met.

  • Develops and implements drilling and blasting program to ensure that Quarry development is achieved.

  • Schedules, supervises, and assists with production, reclamation, and maintenance activities.

  • Supervises loading and hauling at the Quarry.

  • Assists with the development and operates within the constraints of the Quarry budget.

  • Ensures operational data is compiled for permit and regulatory reporting.

  • Ensures compliance with Mine Safety and Health Administration regulations.

  • Ensures the Quarry is operated in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

  • Responsible for corporate safety policy enforcement.

  • Ensures the Quarry complies with all environmental and reclamation regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of mine/quarry operations and maintenance, mine engineering and planning, safety and environmental compliance, mine permitting, and reserve evaluations.

  • Bachelor’s degree in mining geology, or related field and 3 years of related mining/quarry operations experience at a crushing facility; or

  • Associate’s degree in a related field and 5 years of related mining/quarry operations experience at a crushing facility; or

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED or HSED) and 7 years of related mining/quarry operations experience at a crushing facility.

  • Prior experience acting as a lead, in a step-up role, or previous supervisory experience is preferred.

  • Able to demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Proficient with personal computers and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • A valid driver’s license.

Typical Physical/Mental/Environmental Demands:

This position requires constant sitting; and occasional lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 20 pounds, standing, walking, bending, reaching, and climbing. This position uses office equipment and field tools. This position also requires finger dexterity, good vision/hearing, hand coordination, and the ability to perform close work, analyze data/reports, conduct research, and implement recommendations. The incumbent must be able to provide work direction, develop plans/procedures/goals, present information to others, and work under pressure or in stressful conditions. This position occasionally works in areas of dirt/dust, fumes, chemicals, extreme heat/cold, vibration, noise, and poor ventilation. This position must be able to operate a motor vehicle. This position will be on call for any quarry activity.
