Logan Health Dietary Aide - FT/32 hrs in Whitefish, Montana

Job Description Summary:

Responsible for providing assistance in food production, tray preparation and service, cafeteria operations and department housekeeping as assigned under the Food Service Director, Food Service Coordinator, Dietitian, Lead Cook and Cooks.

Position Responsibilities

  • To prepare, assemble and deliver salads, desserts, beverages, nourishments, dietary supplements and menu items served by the Dietary Department.

  • Prepares and dishes cold food items using portion control and appropriateness for diet orders for patients, residents and patrons. (EF)

  • Serves accurately on tray-line adding cold food, condiments, silverware, napkins, etc. accordingly to diet orders and patient requests. (EF)

  • To handle delivery and retrieval of meals and supplies for patients, patrons, and catering functions. (EF)

  • Clean and sanitize dirty dishes, pots and pans from all hospital, cafeteria and catering functions.

  • Disassemble returned patient meal trays using protective gloves and aprons. (EF)

  • Clean and sanitize all returned china, flatware, glasses, trays, etc. using the dish machine following the appropriate procedures. (EF)

  • Wash hands and wear apron to put away all clean dishes and utensils. (EF)

  • Record dish machine rinse cycle temperature each shift. (EF)

  • Clean and sanitize pots and pans in triple sink following appropriate sanitizing procedures. Log PH levels. (EF)

  • To provide service and cleanliness to the cafeteria patrons.

  • To work in cafeteria, handling cash and receipts according to policies and procedures.

  • To serve food items from patient tray-line for cafeteria patrons. (EF)

  • To maintain a well-supplied and clean environment in the cafeteria and after cafeteria hours and on weekends. (EF)

  • Provide service to Cuisine On-Call patrons after café hours and on weekends. (EF)

  • Communicates with Supervisor Dietitian/Food Service Supervisor and other departments as well as diet aides.

  • Maintain contact with Supervisor Dietitian and Food Service Supervisor concerning menus, food/supplies, equipment, policies/procedure, regulations problems and needs. (EF)

  • Courteous and responsive to other departments in regards to patients and patrons’ needs for food services. (EF)

  • Performs cleaning duties within the department.

  • Cleans immediate kitchen work area and keeps it clutter free and dust free. (MF)

  • Cleans kitchen equipment whenever it is used and stores in proper place after using. (MF)

  • Keeps accurate records on cleaning schedule appropriately for cleaning completed and submits records to Lead Cook. (MF)

  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Reports any violation or suspected violation of this Code or other hospital policies or procedures to supervisor, Compliance Officer or through the compliance hotline. (EF)

  • Attends and/or completes mandatory training regarding organizational compliance. (EF)

Education and Experience Requirements

Requires: Food preparation and food safety experience. Verbal and written communication skills; and customer service skills.

Desired: High school diploma/GED; six months food service training and/or experience; and ServSafe Certification.

Day Shift - Variable Hours (United States of America)

Schedule Details:

Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.

Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Schedules are set to accommodate the requirements of the position and the needs of the organization and may be adjusted as needed.
