Agland Co-op Field Technician in Wolf Point, Montana

Job Summary: The Field Technician is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the agronomy division at a specific location. This role ensures the efficient and profitable execution of agronomic services, including crop consulting, soil sampling, and product sales. The manager will lead a team of 1agronomist and 3 applicators/truck drivers, maintain strong customer relationships, and ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.Key Responsibilities:•Customer Relations:•Develop and maintain strong relationships with local farmers and customers.•Provide agronomic advice and recommendations to customers to help improve their crop yields and profitability.•Address and resolve customer inquiries and concerns in a timely and professional manner.•Team Leadership:•Recruit, train, and supervise a team of agronomy professionals.•Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and development opportunities.•Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.•Sales and Marketing:•Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve location sales goals.•Promote agronomic products and services to existing and potential customers.•Conduct market analysis to identify new sales opportunities and trends.•Financial Management:•Prepare and manage the location's budget, ensuring financial targets are met.•Monitor and control expenses, including labor, inventory, and operational costs.•Generate and analyze financial reports to track performance and profitability.•Safety and Compliance:•Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.•Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for staff.•Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety and compliance.•Strategic Planning:•Develop and implement long-term plans to grow the agronomy with overall company goals.Operations Responsibilities for an Agronomy Plant Location Manager:•Operations Management:•Oversee daily operations of the agronomy plant, ensuring efficient workflow and productivity.•Manage the receipt, storage, and distribution of agronomic products such as fertilizers, pesticides, and seeds.•Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of plant equipment and machinery.•Coordinate plant activities with other locations and departments.•Inventory Management:•Monitor inventory levels and manage the procurement of agronomic products.•Implement inventory control procedures to minimize waste and ensure product availability.•Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.•Equipment Maintenance:•Ensure the proper maintenance and calibration of plant equipment and machinery.•Coordinate regular inspections and servicing of equipment to prevent breakdowns.•Manage repair and replacement of equipment as needed.•Safety and Compliance:•Ensure compliance with all safety, health, and environmental regulations.•Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions for staff.•Maintain accurate records and documentation related to safety, health, and environmental compliance.•Implement and enforce safety protocols to minimize risks and hazards.•Quality Control:•Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure products meet company standards.•Address and resolve any quality issues or concerns promptly.•Monitor and improve production processes to enhance product quality.•Customer Relations:•Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers.•Address customer inquiries and concerns regarding product availability, quality, and delivery.•Provide technical support and agronomic advice to customers with maintenance teams to ensure equipment is functioning properly.•Plan and manage facility upgrades and repairs as needed.•Reporting and Documentation:•Prepare regular reports on plant performance, including production, inventory, and financial metrics.•Maintain detailed records of plant activities, including safety inspections, inventory levels, and customer interactions.•Ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.•Innovation and Improvement:•Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement innovative solutions.•Promote a culture of continuous improvement among plant staff.•Evaluate and adopt new technologies and practices to enhance plant operations.•Staff Management:•Supervise and coordinate the activities of plant staff.•Provide training and support to ensure staff are knowledgeable and skilled in their roles.•Conduct performance evaluations and provide feedback to staff.•Resource Management:•Ensure the efficient use of resources, including labor, materials, and equipment.•Implement cost-saving measures and process improvements to enhance plant efficiency.•Emergency Response:•Develop and implement emergency response plans for the plant.•Train Drive, Wolf Point, MT 59201Qualifications:•Valid driver’s license.•Possess or able to obtain CDL and commercial pesticide license•Minimum of 24 months of experience with farming - cultivation, planting, fertilizing and harvesting.•Demonstrated knowledge of agronomy & operations management, agronomic products, services, and practices.•Proven leadership and team management skills.•Excellent communication and customer service skills.•Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.•Proficiency in Microsoft Office and agronomy-related software.Working Conditions:•Ability to work in
